- NCAA
- The governing body for most U.S. college athletics. Different divisions have different rules — the details matter.
- Eligibility
- The set of academic and amateurism requirements an athlete must meet to compete at the college level.
- Commitment
- A verbal or written agreement between an athlete and a college program. What it means varies by division and timing.
- Showcase
- An event where athletes play in front of scouts or coaches. Useful in context; oversold outside of it.
- Pathway
- The full sequence of academic, hockey, and life decisions from Grade 8 through college — not just the recruiting part.
